Is Success No Longer
Politically Correct?
We are firmly in the grip of a recession and everybody knows this to be true.
Above all we are all looking for the light at the end of this extremely dark
tunnel. Naturally, once we saw some light our whole mindset would change.
Then we would gain enthusiasm and courage and soon it would be business
as usual. Have you considered how much of any recession is a mindset, that
is, a mind set in a certain direction? If anyone were to offer us some light
would we be prepared to go in that direction? The real danger is that
success has become politically incorrect. Indeed, if you want to become
unpopular fast then just admit to being a success. In our position we work
with very successful people all of the time. Now they don’t want to admit it
out loud. Think of it though, if people are now embarrassed, ashamed and
made to feel bad by admitting to success, then in fact we’re not getting a
true picture. In turn it’s going to take an awfully long time for things to
change for the better with so few role models. Previously people had a
mindset of moving toward success, now it’s not only acceptable but
politically correct to talk about the difficulty and problems we are having.
Personally, I’ve had a Sunday newspaper devote its front page and two
inside pages to criticising what they describe as my lavish lifestyle. This was
an issue for them even though I reside in The Bahamas and have done so
for 15 years. Well, I grew up in such an Ireland, where if you were a success
people thought you must have done something wrong. Then along came
what became known as the Celtic Tiger and roared onto the world stage and
we became one of the most successful countries. We had a totally different
mindset and our future looked so bright. Are we now falling back into the
same old mindset that I for one thought we’d outgrown forever?
I Want You to Gain.
Once, the Blueprint Newspaper used to be distributed throughout Ireland
three times a year. There hasn’t been one in nine years, so why now? It
appears that for some reason it is possible to write articles about me, put
them on the front page and this sells newspapers. If that is to be the case
then it’s far better for people to read the truth – so here it is. In addition, the
intention is that you the reader be uplifted and gain from reading the articles.
Personally I’ve always enjoyed swimming against the tide, and the recession
and how it’s presented is a very nasty tide indeed. If you are the type of
person who is also prepared to swim against this tide - and at this point
that’s what it takes to succeed - then in this paper you’ll find only good
news,
useful information. People are so emotional, even passionate when they talk
about the recession. In my business (as something of a success coach),
when I can get people as emotional and passionate about their goals they
usually come about. Read on and discover how with just a small switch in
our minds we can begin to turn the tide, starting with our own lives.
Wishing you every success,
Tony Quinn
