Faced with age old dramas in her new world, I wrote this for her and all the other new people arriving on this planet… Part I: God through Religion Mika, before you grow old, You will be told, About God and the Bible, But is it reliable, The English Bible says ‘In the beginning…’ … God created the heavens and the earth. But the in old Hebrew Bible it says: In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth. And that really sets things at odds, Because in ancient Hebrew Elohim meant ‘the gods’, That said famously: “Let us create Mika after our own image and in our own likeness”, Lest with modern translations you vex, Take the ‘Word of God’ from original text, So how did a single god arise? He first popped up as a bit of a surprise, To a nomad in the Middle East called Abram, And promised him plentiful fruit of the loin, And all the earth for his numerous scion, In return for the worship of this god alone. I think the god was a bit of a troll, As he seemed bent on tyranny and control, Like the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood, He really wasn’t very good, As well as the mutilation of little ones, He wanting Abram to kill one of his sons, Thankfully instead he sacrificed a ram, Then Abram was renamed Abraham. Moses was next to see Abraham’s deity, From a burning bush he was asked for fidelity, It didn’t take long for Moses to oblige, As he was on the run for homicide. In return for worship, the lone god promised, Freedom in a land flowing in milk and honey! Then the god who billions now follow, By witchcraft and plague and unspeakable horror, Released his people from servitude and bondage. By genocide the Promised Land was conquered, And after rape, pillage and plunder for the honey, God’s Chosen People now control all money. In Jerusalem Jesus Christ was then approached, In return for worship the apparition broached, “All kingdoms of the earth to thee I proffer!” But Jesus turned down the generous offer, Resisting the temptation of gold in the coffer, Refusing to surrender self determination, Embracing humility, chastity and poverty, He held out for human sovereignty, And identified the wicked ogre, One to avoid drunk or sober, Especially if he promises land and wives, Not to mention cows and bee hives, With plentiful progeny and prosperity, In return for unswerving fealty, Jesus reproached him, he wasn’t scared: “Get behind me Satan,” he declared! Thousands began to seek the freedom, Inspired by his words of inspiration, His deeds, his love and his humanity, But under Roman repression, True light lost expression, Real love went into recession, And Emperor Constantine enforced worship, Of three gods bound into one, With Abraham’s deity as the father And Jesus the subservient son. What treachery to pronounce Jesus son of god, When he declared repeatedly he was a son of man, And to call him a king when he refused the crown, Hell, what an unholy put-down! In a battle Rome fell to Constantine, In a single stroke the empire he won, I wonder who Constantine sold-out to? Look at what Catholicism was about to do! Centuries of darkness followed, Free thinkers were branded heretic, Belief in the Trinity was enforced, By brutality and the Roman sword, Under threat of torture and slaughter, In fire both temporal and eternal, Millions bowed, dissenters were cowed, Slaves to the Roman Church and priests, Who cobbled a religion from pagan feasts. Next like the genii in Aladdin’s Lamp, An angel descended on a desert camp. “Mohamed” declared the apparition, “Allah god of Abraham seeks your benediction”, Teaching him the Koran He then asked the man, To destroy the altars in Mecca. The pattern of old then was repeated, Lands and wives the Prophet conquered, Leading his followers to a new obsession, With cruelty, mind control and repression, And five times a day they had to pray, To a cranky god who held full sway, Over hearts and minds of Muslim men, In return for a promise of heaven. What sort of god barters, And calls for martyrs, Controls through fear, guilt and shame, Giving people sin and devils to blame, Filling them with dread and driving them to hate, Those who dare question or become apostate. Is this really God or a human trait? Beware Mika don’t swallow the bait, Run from religion before it’s too late Beware of any faith you trust with your fate, Read scripture for inspiration not intimidation, And think before you put your future at stake, Following an unforgiving god of hate. Pope Innocent played into the game, And sent Crusaders to protect his name, Bloodthirsty murderers with no mercy or shame, Invaded the Languedoc and slaughtered the Cathars, For proclaiming the Old Testament god as Satan, With Inquisitorial pyres and torture chambers, Burning innocents in fires like imagined hell, The Catholic Church was under his spell. But then bibles were printed and widely read And a reformation of the church spread, And though Rome was defied, Abraham’s god never died And more poor people were immolated, As the harsh Law of Moses dictated, And as the Old Testament directed, Altars were smashed and joy abated, And a new generation of religious teachers, Became hell fire and damnation preachers. But an age of enlightenment began to emerge, As Rome’s Inquisition weakened its scourge, And free thinkers started to question the demiurge, But then freemasonry began to take hold, Of devotion to Jehovah, the god of old, Obsessed with Solomon’s temple, A place of blood sacrifice and trepidation, But at least they had honesty to confess, Their god was Lucifer nonetheless. Masonry then spawned Jehovah Witnesses, Another arm of Zionism, Hell-bent on re-building the temple. Meanwhile in a country abroad A man convicted of fraud, Rallied Americans to a new cause, To believe in a story on plates of gold That nobody saw, so I am told, About, yes you guessed, that god of old. With four wives per man, And hope of a Promised Land, People headed west through heat and cold, Some die poor souls, Others made it, perhaps they were bold, To Utah where Mormonism took hold. Now the all Seeing Eye on the dollar bill, Like Tolkein’s evil Lord Sauron still, Overlooks the rape of America, Where the land stolen was the best, And natives were driven to Bad Lands in the west, By Christians with God on their side, Godly people who by the Bible abide. So here we are at the end of ages, You can see through history all of the stages, Armageddon is predicted with more blood and gore, To rebuild the Temple of Solomon once more, On the mount crowned in Gold by the Dome of the Rock, To clear the site would start a third world war. Does it take nuclear annihilation before, Mankind to wakes up to the realisation, That instead of God we may have found Satan? Part II: God through Science But Mika, all of the Bible is not witches brew, The first verse of John’s Gospel rings quite true, It holds for you an intriguing clue, As to whence the real God maybe found: In the beginning was the Word, And the word was with God, And the word was God. (John 1:1) Word is sound, Sound is vibration, Vibration is energy. Therefore this verse could be read: In the beginning was the Energy, And the Energy was with God, And the Energy was God. Mika one day when you have the education You’ll realise definitions of God in religion Compare with those of energy in science: God is neither created nor destroyed, Energy is neither created nor destroyed, God is everywhere, Energy is everywhere, God is in everything, Energy is in everything, Nothing is that is not of God, Nothing is that is not of energy, The Bible is quite profound, When it points to where in science, God can be found. Because the word is a particle of information, John’s Gospel could have as its instigation: In the beginning was the Information, And the Information was with God, And the Information was God. Particles of energy carry information, Information leads to inspiration, It is the beginning of imagination, The core of creation, And human emancipation. As a universe of informed energy, God would have an identity, God and the Universe could be one, If God and Energy are the sum. Because Energy is everything There would be no separation, Not in the Bible, the Gita, the Book of Mormon or Koran, But in nuclear physics an understanding of God is at hand. Consider Energy from the sun, Evaporating water from oceans, Condensing as clouds, Falling as rain, Flowing in rivers, Gushing through dams, Spinning turbines, Generating electricity, Transmitted through grids, Into particle accelerators, There transformed into mass. No material passed through the energy changes. No substance did the new matter embrace, Only movement and activity change and chase. All matter is made of energy, There is no thing that is moving, Materialism is a delusion, The substance of matter is subatomic spin. Movement alone forms everything. There is no atom that pre-exists action, Energetic action alone makes the atom. There is no material substance to anything, The essence of everything is energy in spin, Energy means, ‘the movement within’. But movement when no thing exists that moves, Is a conundrum that gets most people confused, It is more abstract than concrete reality, Are we in a dream and dreamer duality? Is our world imagined causality? Are particles of energy more thoughts than things? Is the Universe a vision that never ends or begins? And a body of thought is a mind you see, To understand that you need to be at least three! Is your mind just your brain problem solving? Or is your brain the universal mind evolving. Is God a universal cosmic mind? Not the mind manipulator of the Bible or Koran, Not that imposter god of Abraham, Nor the heavenly creator, Of the butcher, baker and candlestick maker, But a universe of intelligence where everything, Is made of countless little imaginings, Maybe God is an almighty brain, With walls of galaxies as membranes, But John’s verse brings us back to nought, Because word is an expression of thought: In the beginning was the thought, And the thought was with God, And the thought was God. Is God the thinker? Or is God the thought? Is God the Creator? Or creation unfolding, Living thoughts evolving, Mind endlessly resolving. Quantum physics has a contention. Nothing exists without observation, Is consciousness the ground of all being? Does energy exist as an act of seeing? Is there an awareness that imagines every being? The gods in the heavens and mankind on the earth, An old person dying and a mother giving birth? Who and what is this ubiquitous knowingness? Is this the God that’s aware of us? And the birds in the air and the fish in the sea, And the flowers and trees and humble bumble bees. Is this God outside of you and me? Or is God in the heart and breath we breathe? Physics has a clue to this as you will see, Most of the Universe is protons, Existing for countless trillions of eons, Seemingly infinite in number and eternal yet, With identical mass, charge, gravity and quantum spin, Uniformity suggests a single consciousness imagines them. If consciousness is undivided, In you and me it would be one, As it is in everyone under the sun, Though we may appear to be separate, We would not be really disparate, One conscious awareness is in us all, One being in bodies both small and tall, Different in colour, creed and wealth, We would be all the same essential self. Remember this Mika if you can, Science can lead you to the brotherhood of man, And the sisterhood of woman. The consciousness in you is observing me, While the consciousness in me is aware of thee, Thus each one exists relative to the other. You really do need your father and your mother This is the Universal Law of Love!
